How is the course delivered? The course is taught using blended learning. This is a combination of both online and face to face training. The Ayurveda Yoga Specialised Units are delivered both online and in practical intensives. The online components are taught in real time allowing you to interact with your teachers and fellow students. You will need access to the internet and will be expected to participate in weekly lectures. Attendance at all practical intensives is compulsory and failure to attend will compromise certification. Common Units are used to support the Ayurveda Yoga Specialised Units. The common units are self-paced study and may be done any time over the two year period however it is suggested you study the units according to the schedule to support your learning and keep to the training schedule. (please note it is not possible to continue in the course without completing the first Ayurveda Yoga module)
What is the time commitment? The course is delivered over two years. It is suggested you put aside a minimum of 10-20 hours a week for study. The training is comprehensive and taught in a way to help you progress through your studies building on your knowledge.
What are the assessments? The Ayurveda Yoga Specialised Units have a combination of smaller assessment tasks such as quizzes, short question and answer, small group work. Each Ayurveda Yoga Specialised unit will conclude with a major assessment task. Assessments for the common units are contextualised to make them relevant to the work of the Ayurveda Yoga Teacher. These include assessment tasks such as small assignments, case studies and reports. There are no exams in this course
Who are my teachers? Your teachers are experts in the fields of Ayurveda and Yoga. They have been carefully selected to provide you with the most up to date and comprehensive knowledge of Ayurveda and Yoga. Their biographies may be found on the course prospectus.
Will I be diagnosed throughout the course? No. An Ayurvedic diagnosis is very thorough and specific. Whilst you may develop expertise in the art of Ayurvedic diagnosis to use as an Ayurveda Yoga Teacher you will not be formally assessed as part of this course. You are welcome to approach an Ayurvedic Lifestyle Consultant, Ayurveda Practitioner of Ayurvedic Doctor should you wish for a formal diagnosis.
Will I be able to qualified In Ayurveda on graduation? No. You will be qualified as an Ayurvedic Yoga Teacher. You will be skilled in developing Yoga programs for groups and individuals. You will not be qualified as an Ayurvedic Lifestyle Consultant, Ayurveda Practitioner of Ayurvedic Doctor. Therefore you will not be qualified to prescribe herbs or conduct body treatments.
How many practical intensives are there? There will be 5 Practical Intensives offered over the 2 year period. Attendance at all Practical Intensives is Compulsory. Failure to attend will compromise certification and may attract a further fee for make-up attendance. Attendance at Simon Borg-Olivier's September workshop will count towards a Practical Intensive.
What can I expect during a Practical Intensive? This is your opportunity to unite with your fellow students and teachers. You will live an Ayurvedic lifestyle practicing daily routines with respect to seasonal regimes. You will cook and enjoy an Ayurvedic diet, participate in lectures and group activities. Practical Intensives are designed to help you fully understand and integrate the practices of Ayurveda with Yoga. Further information and a schedule is available in the Handbook.
Where are they held? All intensives are held at the Aligning Health Retreat in Axedale on the outskirts of Bendigo. This is a 2 hour train commute or hour and half drive from Melbourne City.
Is there accommodation? There is limited accommodation on site. Additional accommodation includes bed and breakfast in Axedale, Caravan Park in Eppalock and Junortoun. There is also limited billeting accommodation.
Axedale is out of Bendigo town. How do I get there? There is limited public transport from Bendigo to Axedale. Transport includes hire of a personal car, or we will provide transport options from Bendigo Station to Axedale during intensives.
You offer treatments on site. May I book in a treatment during the Practical Intensive? No. The Practical Intensives are learning opportunities only. You may make a booking for treatments before or after the scheduled intensives only.
What is included in my course fees? Included in the course fee is all notes made available online and printable for hard copy, all materials for Practical Intensives including all meals and two 2 day workshops on Asana with Simon Borg-Olivier.
Are there additional charges? Yes. You will be expected to study your First Aid Certificate separately from the College. The fee for this unit is not included I the course fees. (For the first 10 students this cost will be part of the course fee) You are required to pay a $250 non-refundable enrolment fee and a $150 materials fee. Accommodation for Practical Intensives and airfares are not included. We offer a competitive payment plan for all our students. Will I be eligible for insurance as an Ayurveda Yoga Teacher? Yes. There are a number of Insurance options available upon graduation
Is this course recognised? Yes. This course is recognised by Yoga Australia. You will be eligible for Level 1 membership with Yoga Australia on graduation. This course has also receives National Accreditation standards for vocational training.
What is National Accreditation? National Accreditation means you will receive a nationally recognised qualification. You will also be able to study additional courses without having to repeat units you have studied and passed. This allows easier access into hospitality, business and education courses that are nationally accredited. You will receive a nationally recognised certificate from RTO 30798.
Is there government support to study this course? No. Payment plans are available. Those experiencing financial hardship are encouraged to contact the College o 0407 289 769 and speak to our Student Finance Officer to discuss further options.
Are there further study options for me when I graduate? Yes. See above. You may also be eligible for partial consideration for Ayurveda Training.
